Build Your Own Computer

We think anyone can build their own computer. In fact with all of the component suppliers out there it's becoming easier than ever to build a reliable machine for home or business.

This website aims to help you do just that.

Half the challenge with computing is understanding the huge volume of abbreviations and jargon that somehow become assumed knowledge over time. We'll try not to assume anything and will be looking to all you guys that know your onions to be help us out with interpreting the trickier concepts in our forum.

You may simply want to enjoy the challenge of the build and try your hand at a simple internet PC build or you may want a bespoke PC that meets some very specific gaming or business requirements. Either way this site aims to help you see it through.

We've even put together our own kit that has everything you need to assemble an affordable machine. The kit comes complete with the case, motherboard, prcessor, memory, DVD Writer, hard drive, mouse, keyboard and Linux operating system. In particular we have written a full build manual written for those who have never done anything like this before.

In a typical build the basic components will fit together quite easily but there's no limit for the self builder who wants to delve into more complex requirements. We're also looking to put some customisable kits together to help you guys out too.

What's on Computer DIY 4 All?

Articles - We will regularly post articles about the various stages of a PC build. Sometimes a question may crop up on the forum or from one of our kit builders which requires a focussed explanation. The articles will explore the key components of a computer and the approaches used throughout assembly. The aim here is to not assume anything and keep it as simple as possible. Please feel free to contact us if we have ommitted an important explanation or introduced any unnecessary complexity on this site.

Forum - We have put together a forum to enable you to ask specific questions and draw on the collective knowledge of other folks who have built their own machine. You can discuss your build highs and lows and offer advice to those embarking on a similar project.

Our new Computer Kit - If you want to get started without the faff of finding all the correct and compatible components yourself then this kit is for you. It includes all the components you need to create an efficient and affordable PC for your home or business. We are aiming to expand the range of kits from simple internet access PCs to gaming, media and internet machines.

Shop - Here you can buy our computer kit. You will be guided through a secure payments process administered by PayPal. If you live in or close to Telford in Shropshire we'll be able to deliver it straight to your door with no delivery charges.

Build Manual - All our kits come complete with a comprehensive build manual. We wrote this as we put together our first kit and we'll be revising this as the specification and, components and techniques change. I am thinking of offering this for free as a PDF document on this site if there is demand.
